(excerpt from the last bimonthly EngageYouth Contact Meeting)
Bible Text: John 10:1-29

Talking in general terms, everyone seeks daily for a better life. It is well put to say by quick sheer assumption that most people’s pursuits of prosperity, success, excellence, fruitfulness and increase or promotion in all life endeavours are with a goal of attaining to better life. The meaning that the society we live in today gives to life is based on the abundance or quantity of our material possession. While Jesus Christ emphatically pointed that “life does not consist in an abundance of possessions”, life is not defined by what you have (even when you have a lot) or what you don’t have.

Thus, the entrance point from where Jesus Christ focused on this discussion has to do with the issue of identity. Whosoever that will really enjoy the full life that God planned for us must firstly understand his/her identity in Christ. To further explain this matter to us, Jesus Christ came from the perspective of pastoralism. Pastoralism is a branch of agriculture concerned with the raising of livestock. It is also called ‘animal husbandry’ which includes the care, tending and use of animals.

The relevance of the above propositional truth is that whosoever that does not have the real identity of Christ in him/her, being saved by grace through faith in Christ is a ROBBER/THIEF. Pause a while! Are you a robber? It is quite easy for anyone to conclusively answer NO; especially those who profess to be Christians just because they regularly attend Sunday schools, weekly Church worship services and perhaps are devoted workers in their local Churches.

By robbery or theft, Jesus meant that anyone who doesn’t come into the Christ-fold by genuine faith in Him is a robber. Unfortunately, we have seen many people who came to Him so that He can meet their needs and wants. They have heard the misconceptions and wrong philosophies on God’s power that prospers, blesses, heals, delivers, promotes and other goodly things as found in Him. Now, the only reason they wanted to be with Him is for their natural needs to be satisfied.

Some who are desperately seeking for a life partner (husband or wife) even went to the extreme of pretending to be part of Him while they are not so as to pick one of the godly brothers and sisters in the fold. Such people are robbers.

It then goes that whosoever that does not have a specific encounter of salvation with God and finds himself/herself in the Church is a ROBBER. Such people either sneaked in unnoticed or climbed over the gate. To belong to Christ, you must come in through the gate and the only gate that is made for us to enter through is Christ Himself.

The "gate" He figuratively talked about here is the gate of "genuine salvation" into the Kingdom of God and no one enters through except through Him. John 3:3-17; John 14:6. Any attempt to enter through other unacceptable means makes the indulgent-being a robber.

May I quickly ask you if you have entered through the gate; or you entered through other means? Any means other than Jesus Christ makes you a robber. Did you truly encounter the Saviour? Have you truly been enlisted among His flocks? As I stated earlier, that you were born and bred in the confine of the walls of the sacred Church structures or that you sleep and wake up at the sacred altar like young boy, Samuel does not qualify you to be part of His flocks. Peradventure you are an executive member in your local Church or fellowship and a very committed worker; this still does not suffice to give you a place with the Saviour.
The only thing that adequately satisfies the demand for an enlistment is total surrenderness and absolute submission to Him, whereby you acknowledge your sins with your sinful state as a depraved man/woman that needs a Saviour/Redeemer. Then, you ask for and accept His forgiveness and the life He offers. By so doing, what really happens is that, an exchange of identity takes place – you exchange your sinful identity with His righteous identity. This is the process that He described as BORN-AGAIN. John 3:3-17.

When you truly encounter God, a deliberate collision takes place which in most cases result to serious friction. That is, friction between your old man and the new man in Christ. Your old ideologies, old philosophies, old ways of thinking and old views/perspectives need to give way for the newness in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17. He gives you a new pattern of thought, new pattern of ideas and philosophies about living, new pattern of hearing and speaking (communication) with Him and others. So much that it becomes obvious to all and sundry that you have been enlisted in the Christ-fold.

The new identity has a peculiar name tag that only enlisted members are allowed to bear, which is ‘CHRISTIAN’. Owing to the fact that this name has been bastardized in today’s world; permit me to use the vocabulary name ‘CHRIST-LIKE’ which intrinsically mean the same. He calls the true flock by this name. May I ask you again, do you really bear and answer to this name – CHRIST-LIKE? Has your social ideology, life philosophy, world view, and thinking pattern really changed from that of this secular world to the Kingdom which Christ represents?

To stress this further, living the life of Christ to enjoy it in its fullness requires following Him on a daily basis. John 10:4. That you have once followed Him in time past is insignificant to the life you live now if you desire to enjoy the full benefits therein now. Your past spiritual achievements or exploits is never sufficient to impress or provoke God’s blessing for today and tomorrow; except you are still living a life worthy of His glory and you remain in Him.

It is pathetic when you see people boasting on their past achievements or exploits in God as ‘good old days’ using them as premises to claim and confess blessings and benefits in God. It doesn’t work like that. Christ calls us that we may remain with Him and stay put in Him forever. John 6:37; 10:29. God can never be moved or get emotional like human beings over your past exploits. He is much concern about your life with Him now.

Are you following God? And if you have ever followed Him before, are you still following Him? To follow implies that there is One leading.  There exists a relationship between the Leader and the follower and the soul of every relationship is communication. For there to be an effective communication between two parties, there must be a level of intimacy which I call LOVE. When true love exists between the two parties, there will be effective communication and once this is in place, there will be a successful relationship between them.
It is therefore a consistent attitude of love to always want to talk. Love wants to share his mind, share his thoughts, talk about his concerns, talk about his plans and moves and talk about everything. God loves us so much that He always wants to speak to us and communicate His heart or mind and express His plans and agenda to us per time. As He takes the lead, He wants to maintain this kind of relationship with us. What will result out of this is the fullness of life that is in Him. The joy of His presence, the provision of all our needs and desirable wants (that are sync with His purpose for our lives) at His set time and all other benefits that anyone can think of or desire as a matter of better life will adorn the life of Christ-follower.

To deal with the issue of love here will only take us into another paradigm. But, may I mention to you that, the only genuine, constant parameter to ascertain and test for love in any life is OBEDIENCE. John 14:15, 23, 31. The quality of your love for God can only be determined by your consistency in obeying Him. If you fail to hear God while He communicate or speak to you because you cannot recognize His voice, more chances are that you will not obey Him. By the way, what will you obey when you have not received any instruction?

I will quickly like to mention but few of the things that are capable of hindering our chances of hearing God and consequently, results to disobedience:

           1.      SIN – This is potent enough to sever the listening ability of anyone. A life that is constantly in the practice of sin can never hear God when He speaks because his/her heart is cut off from Him. Sin simply evolves when you focus your love that should be lavished and centred on God unto something other than Him. “Do not love the world or anything in the world. Of anyone loves the world, love of the Father is not in them…”1 John 2:15-16. Avoid the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. It could be your most cherished possessions, your needs, your spouse, your other relationships, your career, your business, your family and children or even your ministry. Once any of these life endeavours replaces God in your life, chances are that you fall into the temptation different sins. Thus, inability to hear Him or/and absolutely obey Him.

           2.      ROBBERY- It is most certain that anyone who hasn’t accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Saviour cannot hear His voice when He speaks to Him. Just as I have explained earlier on that such person is a robber. If you refuse to give up your robbery activities and genuinely come in through Him today, you cannot hear Him to obey Him. As a result, you cannot enjoy the fullness of life in Him. Robbers can only hear the voice of a stranger and not the true Shepherd. They are subservient to the stranger, who is the devil.

           3.      LACK OF UNDERSTANDING – God has given us His written word (Scriptures) in order for us to understand His pattern and ways of relationship with man. The recorded accounts in the Bible are for us to study to understand how He wants to relate with us. So to be able to understand and recognize God’s voice, you need to diligently study the word of God under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit. He is the divine Counselor that will teach us all truths about God and illuminate our hearts. Once you fail to consistently study the word you will definitely fail to hear God. As you read and study through the pages of the Bible, God will speak to you. He still speaks from His written word through His Spirit.

           4.      PRAYERLESSNESS – Prayer is one of the indispensable ways to communicate with God. Interestingly, you can pray anywhere, anytime but not anyhow. A prayerless life cannot hear God and will not move to obey God. The more you communicate to God in meaningful and effective prayers, the more He speaks to you and instructs you. Make sure you cultivate an attitude to praying always. 1 Thess.5:17. Pray at all times. Always pray in the Spirit with your mind and heart open to God. Jude 20.

           5.      FEARLESSNESS – This can also be described as the “lack of proper and adequate/due reverence for God.” Whenever you allow life circumstances or challenging/problematic situations to overwhelm you and defocused you from Christ on the cross, chances are that you lose your fear for God. Fear of the world and its constituents is the absence of the fear of God and vice versa. The reason why you will want to obey God is because you fear Him. When you fear Him you will always live to obey Him to avoid the wrath of His love. Anyone who despises righteousness, holiness and embraces lawlessness thinking “anything goes” with God as he/she indulges in any self-interest or self-desires fearlessness evolves and may even take root in such life. Also, whenever you refuse to praise God for His daily works in your life or stand to take God’s glory over a matter; you end up in fearlessness and may eventually be destroyed. Acts 12:23. Fearless men often times end up in fundamental errors, blasphemies and eventual perdition. 1Tim.1:19-20; 2Tim.2:16-18. You must always acknowledge God and give Him due respect and avoid profanity. Keep your faith in Christ.

           6.      LOSS OF THE SENSE OF THE SPIRIT – This imply impiety. It is the lack of concern for the things of God. May you never become indifferent about the things that pertain to God in Jesus’ name. You don’t necessarily have to be sophisticated about the things of God all that He seeks for is He wants to see the genuineness of your interest in His agenda and plans. We are required to always walk in/by the Spirit in order not to yield to the constant desires of the natural man. Gal.5:16. Whenever you cut off from the leading of the Holy Spirit and you disconnect yourself from Him, you cannot hear God. Holy Spirit is an Enabler. Enables our hearing ability and enables our heart to completely obey God. Always stay connected and stay in tune with Him. He is the power energizing the divine grid.

In conclusion, no matter what you are going through right now; regardless the challenges and problems you are contending with which seems overwhelming, God will surely come through for you. He is your true Shepherd, not a stranger. So far you are not a robber with Him; He will surely come through for you. He can never leave you nor forsake you. He will never abandon you. He cares so much about you and He knows your name and calls you. John 10:11-15.

Perchance you just read this message and you realize that you are a robber or you have never had a genuine encounter with Him, God sees you as a potential sheep and not a robber. He has a place for you on His flock list. You have a place in His Kingdom – His sheep pen. He is willing to bring you in right away and make you one with all others. John 10:16. That is the reason God sent Him and He willingly died for you. If you are the only sinner in the whole universe, He would have still come to earth and died for you, because He so much loves you. Will you surrender your life to Him and receive the kind of life He offers and enjoy it to the fullest?

Maybe you realize you need to surround your life to Jesus Christ today; you don’t need to wait for the next moment. If you want to decide for Him, pray this prayer with me right now:

“Lord Jesus, I confess that you are Lord. I believe You died and rose from the dead for my sake. Forgive my sins, be my Saviour and make me a child of God from this day forward. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name.”

We look forward to seeing you in our bimonthly Contact Meeting which holds in Ogbomoso Town Hall, Oyo State by 11:00 a.m.

Keep following Him, keep obeying Him, and keep loving Him.

God bless you.

Generations have come and gone! But things seem to be unchanged, despite the different revivals and spiritual awakening that had been. The assessment of the current conditions of our nation as in the national disorderliness, crises, killings and maiming of lives and destruction of properties; the national maladies became prominent not as a result of the most recent global economic depression or anarchy. But due to SPIRITUAL DEPRAVITY, a grave deterioration and retrogression. This decline has been revealed in every ramifications of humanity. Romans 1:18-32.

The ongoing universal panging simply suggests one thing - "there is a doom ahead of this generation (that only God can remove) should we persist in the current trend." When the tide of evil and the power of wickedness threatens to overwhelm the Church, "The Spirit of God raise a resistance." Isa.59:19. The reason we need to seek a boon of God for divine intervention.

I have read, researched and recounted the movements of God in revival throughout major years in world history. The Azusa Street revival, The Welsh revival, The Hebrides revival, Irish revival, Shantung revival, Asbury revival, Monk's revival, etc are indeed notable periods; but I always asked why these experiences never outlived those generations. Why doesn't REVIVAL LAST?

Obviously, we need more than a revival. We need a REFORMATION that will ensure total transformation of all and sundry. We need events that will make us contain God's visitation and His supernatural manifest presence in an overwhelming reality. We need a change of status quo, a change of policies, programmes and processes, a change of mindset, a change from paganism to a Christ-centered system, a change from mere awareness of God to a life inhabited by Holy Spirit.

We need a change from man-made enthusiasm, face-value devotion & service to God and emotionalism that is superficial and cheap to a fearsome manifest of true conviction of one's sinfulness grounded in the reality of physical helplessness provoking genuine response towards God.

Consequently, we move with "guided" passion in righteousness and take necessary corrective actions/measures. This is what we need. This is what REFORMATION entails. We need more than just a rekindling, more than just a resurrection and more than just an awakening. We need a commensurate labour with God to rebuild our brokenness, repair the spoils and re-institute the destroyed standards. This is the legacy we can leave for the coming generation.

We need young men and women that will turn the world upside down for God and establish His Kingdom. Acts 17:6. We need Christians that will boldly SPEAK OUT and courageously confront the decadence that plagues us.
We need a Reformation that is accompanied with a profound realization of God's sovereignty, greatness, transcendence, self unworthiness and sheer dependence on Him.

"I have great confidence in the gospel of Christ; it is God's power to save all the world and salvage our predicaments." Romans 1:16 (Emphasized). The word of God strengthened with consistent, passionate and prevailing prayers is the greatest weapon for reformation. A people armed with TRUTH (God's word) and prevailing prayers are emerging fast. They are God's end time army that will never break their ranks. They shall be willing in the days of His power. Psalms 110:3.

God's revelation of His manifest presence (as He visits and intervenes) must set us out to deeply work and labour to reform our societies and nations. We must arise to possess the gates of the enemy, set the captives of the mighty free and retrieve the preys of the terrible/wicked ones. We must set out to rebuild our ruins and repair the broken standards which form our foundation. We must arise to SAY NO to godlessness.

Why reformation tarries, we must all seek the face of God day and night in EARNEST PRAYERS like the reformers of old. Reformer Elijah prayed earnestly for the supernatural and he redirected the course of the universe to withhold rain for 3.5 yrs. King Ahab of Israel trembled and became subservient. 1 Kings 17-19; James 5:16-18. Reformer Daniel just has he always did prayed and King Nebuchadnezzar praised and worship our Supreme God. Daniel 5:34-37; 6:10-11. Reformer John Knox prayed fervently on his knees “Lord, Give me Scotland or I'll die!” No wonder Mary Queen of Scots trembled when he went to his knees in prayer. One time she even declared that she feared his prayers "more than an army in Europe". Jesus Christ prayed and the whole world became subservient as He gained victory over the world. John 16:32-33; 17:17-26. Matthew Henry, Martin Luther, Charles Spurgeon, Charles G. Finney, Sir Thomas Buxton, Father Daniel Nash, Edward M. Bounds, Jim Elliot, Corrie Ten Boom, Billy Graham, Pa. John Elton and other contemporary prayer reformers are examples for us.

All world genuine reformers have one thing in common, that is PRAYERS while they rightly handled the word of God. The power of Revival, the power of Reformation and the power of Change lie in earnest prayers said from a contrite spirit reflecting the word of God.

Let's put all the jamborees behind us and put religious entertainment aside.

It's the set time to PUSH! Prayer Until Something Happens...

It is imperative for anyone who is willing to live a purposeful life on earth to firstly understand God’s central plan for mankind. The central plan of God is to establish His Kingdom on earth. Matthew 6:9-10.
The elements of His Kingdom are: Righteousness, Peace, Joy & Justice which are only possible through the Holy Spirit. This is a kingdom that is about the worship of God. God is seeking for those who will worship Him in Spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24. Worship suggests a relationship between God and His worshippers; the fact that we have relationship with Him also suggests intimacy and intimacy suggests true love. Whoever does not love God cannot live a purposeful life.
We are made in the image of God and in His likeness in order to establish God’s kingdom and reign as kings and His priests on earth. Psalms 82:5-6; Psalms 138:14; Revelation 5:10.
God has a sovereign agenda, project or programme from which every created human being made in His image and likeness finds his/her purpose and reason for existence. This programme is called DOMINION. That is rulership. Genesis 1:28. His eternal intention is to establish His Kingdom on Earth. So, the Dominion Programme/Project is all about the Kingdom of God. You are a product of God - the Awesome and Creative Manufacturer. He manufactured you in Christ for a specific purpose embedded in His eternal purpose. Ephesians 2:10.
When God released you into planet Earth, He has a specific domain He
wants you to dominate for Him and establish His Kingdom there. You are a king and regardless of what you are passing through or situation you are in, you are a king.

Before God created man and released Him to dominate the World, He made all things that will enhance the fulfillment of this mission. The orderliness in the arrangement of the universe suggests the truthfulness of this proposition.
A true King who will take over his assigned, God’s given domain is the man who walks and lives daily in the likeness and image of God. This is the glory of God in man that dethrones lords of the Earth and enthrones Him. But, "for all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23. Every man was conceived and born in sin. Psalms 51:5. You need to first of all be regenerated and be saved to receive this glory which was lost in the Garden of Eden. You need to receive Jesus Christ into your life. Are you saved? Are you a man in His likeness and image?
Many youths are running today without the view of God's agenda because they are not saved. Such are
pursuing pointless agenda and running without purpose. It is not sufficient to be religiously devoted like Bro. Nicodemus (John 3:1-21), Captain Cornelius (Acts 10) and the Ethiopian Official (Acts 8:26-39). No man can operate in the Kingdom of God except being born again. John 3:3-5.
Therefore, the reason some people live a frustrated life is not because they don't have what it takes to succeed. It is because they are not born again and fail to identify their domain, dominate it and establish God's Kingdom. A life with purpose is the one that has significance with the Kingdom of God, using all his wisdom, abilities, talents, positions, wealth and resources to advance God's Kingdom in his domain.
For anyone to identify his or her purpose in life in view of God’s agenda, you must:-
Develop a heavenly perspective. Have a global Christ-centered worldview. In this worldview, there is a direct connection between the spiritual and physical realm – with Christ being over all. Colossians 1:15-23; 2:9. Therefore, the society and government wherein a large measure based upon a belief that whatever God said in the Bible was right. Church laws and legal precedents in common and civil law flowed from biblical and Church sources. This worldview is called “theism.”
For God to work through humanity and establish His kingdom on earth, there are seven gates of human society that must be affected and taken over. That is, there are 7 major areas of life which I refer to as GATES OF HUMANITY that God has given to man as domains in order to establish His Kingdom:-

     1. The Gate of Government – LEADERSHIP.
     2. The Gate of Media and Communication – FASHION & STYLE, MUSIC, ENTERAINMENT,  FILM (AUDIO-VISUAL), JOURNALISM, etc.
     3. The Gate of the marketplace – BUSINESS & ECONOMY.
     4.  The Gate of the Arts – CULTURE & HUMAN TRADITIONS.
     5. The Gate of Education – INTELLLECT.
     6. The Gate of Family – MARRIAGE, HOME & RELATIONSHIPS.
     7. The Gate of Church & Ministry – RELIGION.

Imagine what each of this look like if they were truly founded on Scriptures.

“There are probably many young men in every city who have the potential to be the very best players or professionals and dream about doing it, but never will.”
Many potentially great musicians will spend their lives listening to others perform at the theatre. Many potentially great Footballers will spend their lives watching others play on the pitch. Many persons who could be gifted businessmen, artists, scientists, statesmen, doctors, lawyers, writers or ministers will probably spend their lives doing something they are bored with rather than fulfilling their talents. This is tragic, but an even greater tragedy is Christians who are not fulfilling their callings in the body of Christ.
We can be sure we will be frustrated if we do not fulfill our natural talents. That frustration is even greater, however, if we do not fulfill our spiritual destiny. Every Christian has a ministry, a purpose he or she has been given in this life. The Scriptures state that we were foreknown and called by God before the foundation of the world. Yet, the Scriptures also teach that “many are called, but few are chosen [or go beyond calling to commissioning” (Matthew 22:14). Many are like Israelites who were called to go to the Promised Land but spent their lives wandering in circles in the wilderness.
God does not want us to live in perpetual frustration or boredom that comes from not walking in our true purpose. The first step in getting out of our wilderness is the belief that God has something better for us – and that He is able to bring us into it.

The following characteristics can be found throughout the Scriptures in the biographies of those who fulfilled God’s purpose in their generation:
     1. They have a clear vision of their purpose.
     2. They stay focused on their goal.
     3. They have the wisdom and resolve to gather the necessary resources or training to accomplish their purpose.
     4. They do not associate with “problem-oriented people” (and not just resulted oriented people because people can be so desperate and go to any length or any where to get results) but with “solution-oriented people.”
     5. They refuse to let obstacles or oppositions stop them; they stay resolutely on the course to fulfilling their purpose, regardless of setbacks, disappointment, discouragement and hindrances or limitations.
     6. They have incontestable faith that moved mountains, quenched wild fires, stopped lion’s mouths and raised the dead.

The following are just few examples of men and women who fulfilled specific purposes of God in their lifetime.
     1.  Abraham – “Father of Faith” of many nations.
     2.  Moses – Deliverer or Rescuer of the people of Israel.
     3.  Joshua – Leader of the Israelites to Promised Land.
     4.  Samson – Deliver of the Israelites from the Philistines.
     5.  Jesus – Saviour or Peace Giver of the universe.
     6.  Paul – Defender, Apologist and Fighter of Faith and Pioneer/Founder of Gentile Missions.
     7. Joseph – Deliverer or Saviour of Israelites in a major world Famine.
     8. David – Reputable Leader of Israel (Portrait of a god-fearing, passionate leader).
     9. John the Baptist – Forerunner of Jesus Christ (prepare the way for Christ’s ministry about the Kingdom of God).
    10. Solomon – Builder of God’s temple that brought all the nations of Israel to worship God in Jerusalem. That’s why he did not fight any war during his reign.
    11. Mary – The Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ who was a virgin.
    12. Deborah – A Mother in Israel.
    13. Esther – Deliverer of the Israelites in the Persian Empire.

There are certain features that were common to all of these great heroes:
     1. Specific encounter with God.
     2. Resolute Faith.
     3.  Absolute Obedience.
     4. God’s Mercy and Grace.
     5. They ran energetically and diligently worked or labored. They were not indolent or lazy. They were fully engaged and not idle.
     6. They all endured – Endurance.

Have you had a genuine encounter with God? You need to pray for God to visit you today. How much do you believe and trust in God and His written and spoken words? How much do you obey Him? How diligent are you in your service and devotion to Him? You need to answer these questions.

You must discover your God’s given specific assignment in life and put all your skills, abilities, wits, energy, experiences and eloquence into achieving it. Whatever you do that does not propagate God’s eternal plan, agenda and purpose is not a worthwhile and approved life endeavour. Quit right now. Only God can reveal His intention for your life.

      1.   SELF (YOU) – The real you is on the inside. This is the greatest threat to your purpose. E.g. Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane. Matthew 26:39 – Let this cup pass over me. His humanity threatened His purpose but He prevailed. You must always prevail over your humanity.
      2.   UNTAMED PASSIONS – Lust of a gifted man e.g. Solomon, Samson, Demas (2 Timothy 4:10). Those who are blessed physically and well-endowed are usually threatened with the same against their purpose.
      3.  LOOSE TEMPARAMENTS – Moses’ anger, Devil’s Pride, lack of self-control, unforgiveness, arrogance, pride, etc.
      4.  GREED – Judas Iscariot.
      5.   Other forms of Self Indulgences – Like, Disobedience, Over-ambition, Aggression, etc. Galatians 5:19-21, Romans 1:18-32.
      6.   OVER CONFIDENCE – Self dependence usually results to over confidence. Our sufficiency is of Christ.
      7.   LAZINESS
      8.   CULTURE AND HUMAN TRADITION – Culture of the Pharisees, Jezebelian Culture.
      9.   HERESIES, FALSE TEACHINGS, LIES AND DECEPTIONS – Hymeneus and Philetus 2 Timothy 2:17-18, 2 Timothy 3; 1 Timothy 6.
     10. REBELLION AND OPPOSITION TO TRUTH – James and Jambres opposed Moses 2 Timothy 3:8-9.
     11. TERMINAL DISEASES AND INFIRMITIES – Other sickness that have defiled healing. Woman with the issue blood Luke 8:43.

I speak to your life today that whatever is standing on your way with an aim to hinder you from fulfilling purpose is removed in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

Text: Genesis 1: 11–13, 26–27; 2:4–7; 1John 3:9.

The right understanding of divine mandate for man will give him a right standing and the power to withstand vices that oppose him on earth. God created everything on earth with a purpose and when the correct perspective of such purpose is being impressed on our heart, we tend to live at our maximum capacity and die empty.
The Creation story is inexhaustible but the Holy Spirit illuminates our hearts with perfect understanding as we carefully study the account recorded in the Bible. The book of Genesis opens with a sharp contrast between Heavens and earth. God in his infinite power created both realms as He chose to be silent on the description of the Heavens while He focused on earth.
In Genesis 1:2, the earth was described as being void, without form and darkness was upon the face of the deep. Then, God called forth light which illuminated the entire landscape and brought life to earth. God did called things that were not as though they were and in verse 11, “And God said, let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind whose seed is in itself upon the earth and it was so”.
Based on the knowledge of Agricultural Science, we know that a farmer cannot plant maize and harvest orange because the cotyledon (life) in maize can only produce its kind. So also, everything (grass & herbs) that was called forth carries seed of its own kind which is the life that resides in its fruits. This insight of common fruits, seeds and plants He created provoked the desire to know what sort of kind was MAN in the beginning. What seed (life and nature) was placed in MAN at the beginning that also has the capacity of bringing forth its kind?
In Genesis 1:26–27, “And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish...So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them”. From these verses, we can observe critically that MAN is in God’s own design and fashion. This is because the seed in each fruit bears the life of the tree and also produces its own kinds, its flavour, its taste, and its exact image.
Consequently, suffice to say that an image means the exact kind, life, character of seed that lies in something being planted which brings forth such sameness.

1. MAN is God’s own seed that bears God’s own fruits. The image of God is His life and nature, so He planted this nature into MAN in order for man to be like Him. Therefore, MAN is God’s replica on earth.
2. MAN is made by God to be a god to all other creatures. MAN in the beginning bears God’s characters, God’s gene and His DNA. So, at outset, all that man exhibit is totally godly. He talked, walked, sang, felt and saw like God, his maker. MAN is God’s exact person on earth to reign on earth dependently on God.

“The person who has been born into God’s family does not make a practice of sinning because now God’s life (nature, seed) is in him; so he can’t keep on sinning for this new life has been born into him and controls him – he has been born again”. (Paraphrased)

Brethren, in the light of the above Biblical description of who a MAN that God created is; Are you a real man or you are just living for yourself? Is God’s seed formed in you? Are you truly born again and living for God, because the sons of God live for Him and Him alone? Ask yourself these questions and sincerely answer them.
Finally, Pray to God if you’re not born again. Confess your sins and ask Him for forgiveness and invite Him to come into your life. If you are born again, congratulations; but, ask Him for grace to be steadfast in His love.
